Are you trying to figure out if you need standard DVD, HD-DVD or Blu-Ray format |
||
At the risk of making this subject even more complicated than it already is, we will try to sort out the ever-maddening DVD formats. Basically, we have three flavors of DVDs on the scene. Regular DVD Disks will play in all three players. HD-DVD Disks will ONLY play in HD-DVD players. Blu-Ray Disks will ONLY play in Blu-Ray players and Playstation 3 players. HD-DVD and Bly-ray play universally in all regions. There is no PAL issue. Same as our standard DVDs are rated 0 Region – play universally. Conversely, regular DVD players will only play regular DVDs. Regular DVD players will NOT play HD-DVDs, nor Blu-Ray Disks. HD-DVD Players will play HD-DVDs or regular DVDs, but NOT BluRay Disks. Blu-Ray Players will play Blu-Ray Disks or regular DVDs, but NOT HD-DVDs. BTW, regular DVD disks will look a lot BETTER when played in either high definition player. Also, the difference between high definition and standard definition is substantial. Once you see the difference, you’ll know the difference. Questions?
